My passion for youth development extends beyond the classroom and onto the open sea. Serving as a volunteer advisory trustee for Sail Training International, I focus on creating robust youth protection and safeguarding policies, while also advancing research in outdoor education and sail training. I spearheaded the establishment of a research fund to support studies in this field, with my own research highlighting the profound impact of sail training on student engagement, self-concept, social skills, and motivation.
My journey into sail training began as a trainee aboard the STS Young Endeavour in 2000. Since then, I've been deeply committed to integrating sail training into educational and personal development programs worldwide, using it as a unique platform to teach valuable life skills and promote lifelong learning.
