Thoughts on Science

Science is not just a subject to be studied. It is so much more than that. It is a way of thinking. A way of looking deeper and seeing the world around us in a new light. It is looking beyond what our senses tell us and exploring the inner most workings of life, the universe and everything.

Science is a methodology of going through life challenging preconceptions, asking for proof, questioning claims and statements and providing a framework to test ideas fairly and reliably to provide insight and answers. It can be applied to any aspect of our lives without disrupting our beliefs or spirituality.

Science is not separate from other ‘subjects’. It draws on them, combines with them, is part of them and they it. Science needs to be part History and what has been discovered before. Learn from the past to build something new. It needs languages to understand and communicate as it does the arts and music to give meaning and engagement to this communication. It requires technology to continually expand our understanding, to probe deeper, uncover more detail and push out limits further. It needs political and social studies to understand and put it in perspective with the beneficiaries of those discoveries. IT requires philosophy, psychology, health, geography to place it where it it is needed most.

The more we understand “science” the more we understand ourselves, the cosmos and our place in it.

If you have ever wondered why, how, or what happens if. If you have ever been curious and then investigated to find an answer, then you are a scientist and you are one the path, taking one small step at a time, to creating a bigger, brighter, more enlightened future for yourself and all humanity.
